Peninsula Hot Springs
The experience
Peninsula, in full
Opened in 2005 on the Mornington Peninsula, Peninsula Hot Springs turned a deep geothermal aquifer into the country's benchmark bathing destination. Ninety minutes from Melbourne, it spreads more than seventy bathing experiences across a hillside of pools, saunas and gardens — and it is still the place most first-timers should start.
It splits in two. The Bath House is the sociable, all-ages half: the famous amphitheatre pool on the hilltop, a cave pool, reflexology walk, family pools and wet-and-dry saunas. The adults-only Spa Dreaming Centre is the quieter sanctuary, with its own pools, infrared and traditional saunas, and the full treatment menu alongside.
Signature: The amphitheatre hilltop pool.
